Your checklist should support the way you actually work. Keep it short enough to use on a phone, but specific enough that another cleaner could understand what was done.
Before the clean
Confirm the scopeCheck the service type, rooms, special requests and any areas that are excluded.
Confirm access and timingRecord the address, access instructions, arrival window and contact person.
Prepare suppliesCheck chemicals, cloths, equipment, protective gear and any property-specific products.
During the clean
Work room by roomUse the same order each time so the workflow is predictable and easy to review.
Record exceptionsNote pre-existing damage, inaccessible areas, broken items or tasks that could not be completed.
Take useful photosCapture before-and-after images when they clarify the condition or show a specific result.
Before leaving
Review the checklistMake sure every relevant task is marked completed or clearly identified as not recorded.
Review the propertyCheck that equipment is removed, windows and doors are secure and the property is left as agreed.
Send a client-ready reportShare a concise summary with photos and follow-up notes where needed.
Make the checklist work for your business
Use a core checklist for every job and add a small section for the service type. A regular clean, a deep clean and an end-of-lease clean should not all have identical tasks.
Review the checklist every few weeks. If a customer repeatedly asks about the same detail, add that detail to the process so future jobs are clearer.
